Sometimes when we’re a new place we like to focus on a single detail. By blocking out all the rest of the sensory stimuli, we can absorb the new information at a more leisurely pace.
While on assignment to Amsterdam, we took some moments to stand still, noticing the feet of passers by. These legs and shoes tell an urban story – busy people striding to unknown destinations.
A compact city with scenic bridges overtop 165 canals, Amsterdam is a walker’s paradise. With more than three times the number of bridges than Venice, it helps to be fit when out for a stroll. Despite the wide variety of footwear we captured with our camera, we did not happen to see anybody the city’s iconic wooden clogs, in case you were wondering.
